It was as packed in there as I’ve ever seen the Camel, and yet the crowd was absolutely silent as Moreland sang. I remember wanting to hold onto every moment. Moreland’s show in Richmond at the Camel was one of those rare moments when you know you’re in the middle of something you’ll never forget. I was so thrilled to see this pop up on Bandcamp. – John Moreland - Live at The Grey Eagle – Asheville, NC – 6/9/19 We can all do so much better, and I’m in awe of the way Dawid’s art has illustrated that. It’s not unlike how this summer helped many white folks find a clearer sense of accountability in connection to the many manifestations of systematic racism in America. ![]() Whether we’re talking over singers who are baring their souls, or failing to compensate those same artists by streaming their music instead of buying it at the merch table, listeners could stand to hold themselves accountable in ways we haven’t in the past. ![]() But what Dawid did in Germany feels vital for this moment, especially as we have some time and distance from live music to think about how concerts work. Think “You’ve Got a Friend” from Donny Hathaway’s similarly titled Live album - the crowd becomes a part of the song during the choruses, and there may not be a more beautiful recording of that well-traveled composition. The very best live albums find a way to break down that barrier. And not by stopping the show and having them removed or shunned by the rest of the crowd she brings that onlooker’s decision to withhold support into the song itself. We need you to affirm us.” In that moment, she shatters the whole set of power dynamics, especially the one about crowd participation being earned, en route to something both totally revolutionary and refreshingly simple: She holds someone in the audience accountable. You hear it in the opening moments of LIVE, when Dawid is scolded by a hotel employee for playing a lobby piano, and you hear it during the set, when Dawid entreats an audience member who didn’t join a call-and-response chant: “What’s wrong with me? You don’t love me. While that whole set of invisible exchanges - everything from the height of the stage and the price of admission to the convention of applause - often flies under the radar for attendees, imbalances are acutely perceptible when you’re the performer, and on this night in Germany, Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood turned a lack of balance (resulting from racism they experienced while on tour) into art. In the process, she lays bare the set of power dynamics that hangs in the balance at a concert. The word transcendent gets thrown around a lot, often as hyperbole in place of “really good.” But this live set from Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood breaks through the performer/audience barrier in spectacular fashion. – Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood - LIVE Here are a handful of 2020 live albums I loved, starting with one that immediately feels like an all-time great. And if Bandcamp Fridays have been any indication, artists have also been turning to the format - as a way to engage fans while we all wait for tours to resume. It’s so heartening that relief for those venues is on the way, as a result of recent Congressional action, but with live music’s return still a ways off, I’ve been turning to live albums as a way to fill that void. Of driving by them and wondering what it’s like inside. Either way, I wouldn’t have been able to imagine how this feels - the strange sensation of my favorite venues seeming so remote. If you’d told me on January 1st that concerts would register as a distant memory by year’s end, I’m not sure whether I would have either laughed or cried. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lin Shunan shook his head, He said, I can t, I am a spiritually successful penis enlargement size up supplements clothing insulating body, what. And I love the fact that there’s a conference and people get together to do this. So there was a lot of reasons when I saw this, I thought, “I think this is a great group to go and talk to make sure that they know what they’re doing is truly worthwhile.” This is really something that you can grasp on to and hold onto. Nonetheless, that doesn’t make you any different, you’re still family. And so it’s now transcended beyond biology. We all now at this point know someone that’s adopted or been adopted or is a half sibling or a stepsister or whatever it is. You have no idea the time that you’re putting in on this, the difference it’s going to make for someone in the future. You’re leaving a footprint for generations and generations to come. We take for granted knowing what your grandmother’s name was. At that moment, I thought, you know most of us take for granted a mom and a dad. He looked at those things like they were gold. Do you have a picture?” As luck would have it, or God would have it, we literally landed on this woman, and she had three or four photos. I think of dealing with Michael for 17 years. FLASHCODE DECODER CODEYou can try the following steps and code using qrtools:Ĭreate a qrcode file, if not already existing So to conclude would anybody know how I can decode QR-codes from images in (preferable pure) Python? All tips are welcome! Since I don't like this service to be dependent on other API endpoints I would want to keep the decoding local though. PyXing ( website here) is supposedly a Python port of the popular Java ZXing library, but the initial and only commit is 6 years old and the project has no readme or documentation whatsoever.įor the rest I found a couple qr- encoders (not decoders) and some API endpoints which can decode for you. So I decided to find yet another library. It furthermore needs ZBar and is thus not pure Python. Although I want to run my code on Heroku (and thus prefer a pure Python solution) I successfully installed it on a Linux box (with sudo apt-get install python-qrtools) and tried running it: from qrtools import QRĬ = QR(filename='/home/kramer65/qrcode.jpg')Ĭ.data_to_string() # prints '\xef\xbb\xbfNULL' where I expect an int (being `1234567890`)Īlthough this seems to decode it, It doesn't seem to do it correctly. I suppose it refers to this repo which says it is based on ZBar (see above). I also tried it with python-qrtools, qr-tools, python-qrtools and a couple more combinations, but unfortunately to no avail. So I tried installing it using sudo pip install qrtools, which can't find anything. M圜ode = QR(filename=u"/home/psutton/Documents/Python/qrcodes/qrcode.png") QRTools, which according to this blogpost can decode images easily by using the following code: from qrtools import QR I tried to suggestions in the answers to this SO question, but I can't seem to solve it. This fails with error: command 'cc' failed with exit status 1. FLASHCODE DECODER MAC OSXZBar ( website here) claims to be "an open source software suite for reading bar codes from various sources, such as image files." So I tried installing it on Mac OSX running sudo pip install zbar. Furthermore, the website refers to Ubuntu 8.10 (which came out more than 6 years ago) and I can't find a public (git or other) repository of it to check the latest commit. So I tried the code above with both pyqrcode and qrcode, but both fail at the second line saying AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'Decoder'. The thing I find strange about the example code above however, is that it only imports qrcode (and not pyqrcode though) Since I think qrcode refers to this library which can only generate qr-code images it kind of confused me. So I simply installed it using sudo pip install pyqrcode. PyQRCode ( website here) which supposedly can decode qr codes from images by simply providing a path like this: import sys, qrcode I've found a couple libraries which claim to do this: I've got a jpg file with a QR-code which I want to decode using Python. TL DR: I need a way to decode a QR-code from an image file using (preferable pure) Python. ![]() ![]() ![]()
